Weekly Activities
Upon arrival students get their folders out and put them in their mailbox. Then they wash their hands and make their milk choice. After that they work on fine motor activities at the tables.
During our morning meeting on the carpet, we talk about our helpers, calendar, weather, letters, colors, shapes, patterns, rhyming words, counting, and numbers.
We then move on to centers where the students get to explore a variety of activities around the classroom with the other students.
Once we have cleaned up after centers, we gather back together on the carpet for storytime.
Next we work on small groups activities which are created depending on each child's developmental needs.
In our classroom we use the Creative Curriculum for Preschool. Our curriculum developmentally appropriate play based program that does an excellent job meeting the needs of every student. You will also notice that your child comes home with very few papers since we are working on a more hands-on experience and less paper and pencil.
Friday we go to the Elementary library. We get to listen to a story and make a small craft. The kids are also allowed to check out a library book, but we keep them in our classroom. In kindergarten they will be able to start bringing them home.
Technology: We are very fortunate in preschool to have access to many forms of technology. In our classroom we have access to an iPad, 2 iPad2, classroom computers, projector, a chrome book, and a MIMIO. The students have already started using them, and they have a great time. Our school has purchased rights to use a program called Destination Learning. The program does a great job of introducing and reviewing literacy and math concepts.
